UMFF º»¹®

UMFF  /  Introduction  /   Greetings

UMFF Chairman Lee Soon-geol

We sincerely welcome you to the 9th Ulsan Ulju Mountain Film Festival (UMFF).
Set against the beautiful autumn backdrop of the Yeongnam Alps, UMFF, Korea¡¯s only film festival dedicated to mountains and nature, is opening its curtains for its 9th season.
Under the slogan ¡°Come Up Higher, Cinemountain¡±, this year¡¯s festival will present 97 films from 28 countries that the whole family can enjoy together amidst a majestic nature.
This year, we have expanded our venues. In addition to the Yeongnam Alps Welcome Center, Ulsan Grand Park will also provide screenings, making the festival more accessible and convenient for our visitors.
Beyond film screenings, we have also prepared a variety of family-friendly programs, including climbing, orienteering, and marionette experiences, to create a happy festival for the whole family.
We hope that through the inspiring stories of people who push their limits and embrace challenges, you will feel the spirit of adventure and find comfort and strength away from the monotony of daily life.
Lastly, I want to express our heartfelt thanks to everyone who has joined us for the 9th Ulsan Ulju Mountain Film Festival. We ask for your continued interest and support as our mountain film festival continues to grow and evolve.
We hope that you can create many precious memories with UMFF this fall.
Thank you.

UMFF Festival Director Um Hong-gil

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has shown unwavering interest and support for the 9th Ulsan Ulju Mountain Film Festival (UMFF).
We are thrilled to once again bring you an exceptional selection of films that capture the spirit of mountains, nature, and human spirit of conquest. We eagerly anticipate sharing with you the 97 films from 28 countries, including the opening film Nuptse: Touching the Intangible, about the relentless pursuit of overcoming personal limits, and the closing film Snow Leopard, about respect and harmony with nature against the backdrop of the Tibetan snowy mountains.
The keywords of this year¡¯s festival can be summed up as ¡°expansion¡± and ¡°growth.¡± We are broadening the festival¡¯s scope to reach new audiences and strengthening our position as one of the top three mountain film festivals in the world by hosting the International Alliance for Mountain Film (IAMF) General Assembly.
This year¡¯s guest country program, ¡°Dolomite - ITALY,¡± will spotlight Italy¡¯s remarkable mountain culture and cinema. Distinguished Italian guests, including the Ambassador of Italy, the Director of the Italian Cultural Institute in Seoul, renowned filmmakers, explorers, and film festival figures, will enhance the festival¡¯s international colors.
This 9th edition of the festival is also a crucial steppingstone as we prepare for next year¡¯s 10th anniversary of UMFF. Through this year¡¯s festival, we aim to lay a solid foundation for reaching our tenth peak.
We hope you enjoy the beauty of the Yeongnam Alps and Ulsan Grand Park while immersing yourself in the joy cinema brings.
Thank you.
