Skilled mountain climber Zachary Teller has given up climbing after an accident, believing that ¡®the mountain doesn¡¯t allow¡¯ him. His mother died leaving his younger brother Chris in his care. To act as parent to his selfish and immature brother, Zachary has also given up on getting married himself. When a plane crashes on Mount Everest where they live, Zachary forces himself to ignore the callings for a rescue mission, but can¡¯t ignore Chris and his greedy pursuit. A 1956 film, The Mountain is a typical Hollywood human drama that well reflects the true mountaineer and the tension of a mountain film. (YOO Sun-hee)
