Niilas is a shy 12-year-old boy living in a Belgian single father home. In the summer, he visits his mother and her new family living in the deep woods of Sweden raising moose. The Swedish family welcomes him, but Niilas does not open his heart. One day, one of the moose goes missing and Niilas and his stepsiblings embark on an unexpected journey to find it. The recorder that Niilas always carries with him is his tool to cut and withdraw himself from the world, but when it loses its functionality, it becomes a signal flare that indicates his opening up to the family and the world. Also, the moose that keeps appearing at important moments symbolizes the line between reality and imagination, as well as an inner obstacle Niilas must overcome. The elegant filmic language of a director specializing in children¡¯s films takes us to the white nights of the blue Swedish mountains. (Jinna LEE)
