Other than ‘Do-Re-Mi’ and ‘Julie Andrews’, we don’t have to mention anything else to introduce the classic Hollywood musical film. The setting is during World War Two, in the beautiful Austrian Alps. Free-spirited nun Maria becomes governess to the von Trapp family, with a widowed, retired captain and his seven children. She brings warmth to a strict military household and falls in love. Based on Maria von Trapp’s autobiography The Story of the Trapp Family Singers (1949), the film lasts almost 3 hours, but no one’s the wiser amid the stupendous musical numbers, dance, and romance.
