10-year-old Tsering, living at a small mountain village walks 7km every day to go to school. One day, Tsering breaks a friend¡¯s chair by mistake. The protagonist struggling to fix the broken chair reminds us of Where Is the Friend's Home?(1987) directed by Abbas Kiarostami, and the film explicitly expresses admiration and homage to the Iranian master. The episode about the present of Ladakh in Ancient Futures, along with Mise-en-Scene, is especially remarkable. Ladakh, whose traditional culture and community are facing a crisis due to inevitable changes, perhaps can be compared to the broken chair, yet the ending is warm and hopeful rather than harsh.
