An 18-year-old girl living in the shabby outskirts of Teheran, Iran. As an illegal immigrant from Afghanistan, Sonita wants to become a rapper, but faces an obstacle. To provide for her brother¡¯s wedding dowry per Afghani customs, she must return home and get married. With her marriage, her family will receive $9,000.
