Pema¡¯s family farms barley fields in a mountain village in Tibet. Their happy and peaceful life is shattered when her father is taken by the Chinese authorities for protesting. The rugged Himalayas that surrounds the village is a great wall stopping Pema from searching for her father. Rather than making a direct comment regarding freedom in Tibet, the film takes a family torn apart to draw on the relationship between peaceful life and politics. Now when political refugees are a hot issue in Korea, it would be a good time to reflect on Pema¡¯s life and the meaning of her choices. We hope there is peace on the other side of the mountain.
