Allison OTTO
Elizabeth Hawley who died at the age of 93 in Nepal January of this year, was the best-known American chronicler of Himalayan expeditions. She left records of interviews with every Himalayan expedition from 1963 to 2018. The Himalayan database she created is said to be more accurate than that of the Nepal government. She wanted to be called Miss Hawley until her death, and led a celibate life. (SHIN Young-chul)
