Anna Teresa PIETRASZEK
Wandy Rutkiewicz is a world class female climber who in 1978 made the first successful summit of Mount Everest as a European (Polish) woman. She went on to climb 8 of the 14 eight-thousanders. As we watch interviews with fellow climbers who were with her until she died at Kanczendzonga in 1992, a retrospection by her mother, and videos of Rutkiewicz while alive, we come to understand the shadows beyond climbing that formed her life, devotion to mountains and loneliness.
