Old monk Paljor leaves on a journey for asceticism with young monk Tashi who is struggling with ill feelings towards his father and is constantly going against his teacher’s wishes. The two monks with a great age gap don’t converse much but do understand each other and their problems. The beautiful video harmonizes well with the Buddhist message about anger and sin. (KIM Se-jin)

A Buddhist monk and teacher at Shechen Monastery, Nepal where he teach Buddhist philosophy. Shenang Gyamjo Tamang has attended film workshop held at India and Nepal he made an experimental short documentary. Year of the Bird is his directorial debut fiction film.
