HIRAYAMA Hideyuki
A film based on a novel, The Summit of the Gods by Yumemakura Baku, a Japanese genre fiction writer known for The Yin Yang Master. Fukamachi, a mountaineering journalist devoted to capturing the magnificent views of Mt. Everest, falls into depression after a serious accident. At that time, he learns about Habu, a legendary climber who is presumably dead after going missing. However, it turns out Habu is still alive and thanks to him, Fukamachi finds the courage to climb the mountain once again despite the rumor that Habu is responsible for his friend ¡¯s death. The film was shot 6,000 meters above the sea level in the Himalayas to stay faithful to the original book, which presents overwhelmingly spectacular natural landscapes. It also features two actors familiar to Korean audiences: charismatic Abe Hiroshi and idol-turned-actor Okada Junichi.
