In the spring of 2008, climbers Dario, Christian, Sebastian and Guillermo set out to film a documentary climbing Dhaulagiri(8,167m), the world ¡¯ s eighth tallest peak that holds a special meaning for Argentinians. After a ritual prayer for a safe journey, the climb gets off to a smooth start. However, at 7,800 meters, Sebastian is forced to return due to frostbite, and Dario goes missing while attempting a solo climb to the top. Only Christian makes it to the top, but he has a brush with death on his way back to the basecamp. Six years have gone by, and Guillermo gathers the friends together and suggest they climb the Andes in memory of Dario and to complete the documentary. The remaining friends climb the volcano Llullaicaco in the Salta region and bury a photograph of Dario in his memory at its peak at 6,000 meters.
