“Return” is a pub on the ridge of Ulju. Some villagers sit every day under the framed picture on the wall that says “Drink here, the person you miss will return.” Each person misses a different person such as a runaway wife, a missing father, a son with whom they have lost touch, etc.; but they all feel sorry for their family members and swallow their yearnings and pains together. One day, a stranger girl from the city starts staying at “Return”—the pub owner’s painful past gets uncovered piece by piece, and expectations to meet the old faces rise. Yeongnam Alps, that repeatedly appear on screen, warmly embrace the protagonists. The remaining families, who have been waiting for their family members, embrace each other’s hurts and form a new family among themselves.
