A Dutch couple, Martin and Margo settle in Santoalla in northern Spain in 1997 after traveling around Europe. At first, they live a quiet life in a self-sufficient manner in this remote village where no one lives except the longtime resident Rodriguez family. However, their world starts to fall apart as they come into conflict with their neighbors and eventually take them to court, which is followed by the mysterious disappearance of Martin in January 2010.
