Rock climbers Ulla Lohmann, Sebastian Hofmann and Thomas Boyer go to Ambrym island located in Vanuatu archipelago, South Pacific to see a volcano. It belongs to a range of volcanoes called Fire belt. In Ambrym island, there is a caldera, an ash plain having two active volcanoes named Marum and Benbow. The climbers should descend the crater of Benbow to approach the lava lake. It is a very dangerous attempt because the volcano can explode at any moment and is placed so low that extremely professional climbing skill is needed for. Despite bad weather and much gas from the volcano, they try to descend deeper toward the third terrace. They feel like that the volcano tests their limitation and desire. They manage to approach the place sixty meters away from the lava lake and can see it very close up. No superlative expressions are sufficient to describe it.
