Iara LEE
This documentary, a new film directed by Iara Lee, a Korean-Brazilian director, highlights the second highest peak in the world (8,611m). This film focuses on the devotion of porters and Sherpas, who help climbers, rather than the process of climbing the mountaintop. Porters have to carry heavy baggage from base camps for family living. From the last spot, a secluded village Ascoli, to Baltoro glacier, the film shows the hard journey of porters on top of the beautiful landscape. Climbers wouldn¡¯t be able to climb high peaks without them. There are a number of memorial copperplates at Angel Peak next to K2. However, no one remembers their sacrifices.
