Jurek, also the film title, is the short name of a famous Polish mountaineer Jerzy Kukuczka. This is a documentary of Jurek, the second person to climb the 14 8-thousanders after Reinhold Messner. He climbed 13 of the 14 peaks through new routes or in winter, except for Lhotse. As a poor socialist labor worker, he wrote new history of high altitude climbing simply with his climbing abilities. Reinhold once said in a congratulatory message, “You are not second. You are great.” There is an interview with the Korean climber Heo Youngho. The film also covers the time when he died from a fall while climbing the south face of Lhotse in 1987. It is a climbing record of Jurek, who lived the short but passionate 41 years of life.
