A typical Shinobu Yaguchi film with trivial and carefree humor. Yuki, a once loser in the city, happens to be forestry trainee and is assigned to a remote village. He gradually progresses into being a ‘man of woods’ and his meaningless life turns into something different. As implied in the title, which is a combination of thedomain of nature ‘wood’ and the domain of human ‘job’, the film is about the harmony. For the people who live in the forest, the tree is something more than to make money, it’s the thing that was planted before they were born, and that they should inherit to their descendants. Humans only plays a part of this circle, never can own the nature.
