In the summer of 2021, an exceptional heat-wave and drought led to giant fires ravaging millions of hectares of land in northeastern Siberia. Spread by the wind, the black ashes carry alarming news: the forest is on fire and the flames are fast approaching. Alexander Abaturov was born in Russia. In 2013, he directed his first documentary, Sleeping Souls, selected and awarded in various festivals. The Son, his first feature length documentary, was premiered in the Berlinale Forum and selected at many other festivals.
