In the north of Azerbaijan, at a lakeside sanctuary: three trees are adorned with fabrics woven by the women residing in the neighbouring village, who would come to ward off their sorrows by making nature their ally. With poignant gentleness, the film brings back to life this mirror-like place where women, in the past, were released, at least spiritually from their harsh condition.

Lala ALIYEVALala ALIYEVA
A documentary filmmaker from Azerbaijan who has started her career as a freelance journalist. She produced several short documentaries, including her graduation project They Whisper But Sometimes Scream, 2019. The film had its world premier at Vision du Reel and UK Premier at Sheffield Doc/Fest.
