The title of the film is derived from a mythical country or city from before the founding of Gojoseon. The director was faced with the sudden death of a friend and learned about a shamanistic experience from another friend. This film is a way to approach her longtime interest into the world of the dead, soul, and shamanism. It’s a record of her journey to meet Lee Ok-ja, a shaman who becomes a medium between the dead and the living through Gut (a Korean shamanistic practice). She uses the film medium, which is also an animistic apparatus, to create an incantation.
