Frederick WISEMAN
This is the latest documentary by Frederick Wiseman, one of the masters of direct cinema. Wiseman¡¯s camera inhabits a place and captures the lives of people living there. But his real purpose is to arrange the pieces of reality captured by his camera and to give an insight into the community's structures. The place chosen this time is Monrovia, a small town in Indiana, the United States. Most of the residents are Christian, Caucasian and livestock farming and agriculture are the main sources of income in Monrovia. This documentary takes place in 2016 after Trump was elected and shows a variety of places and the daily lives of a declining typical small town in the US. Once again, the camera is trying to give an insight into this community. (JO Ji-hoon) [Screening Information]
