Sydney POLLACK
Some would remember this film as a melodrama that depicts a noblewoman falling in love with a free-spirited man. If you see it from the point of gender sensitization of the present day, however, it is for sure that you will see something completely different. The beginning of the relationship between Karen and Bror was a trade in the name of marriage. While struggling to live her life in the land to which she is a stranger, she leaves her husband, who left her with nothing but wounds, and gets close to Denys who cherishes her the way she is. Eventually, however, the land of Africa takes away everything it has given to her: a life full of challenges and the dreamlike love. This film is recommended for those who spend sleepless nights overwhelmed with unforgettable memories and deep regrets.
