The 1979 film Raining in the Mountain was shot on location in Korea by King Hu, director of A Touch of Zen which led the New Wave in Hong Kong in the 1970s. This film shows a world view from the Buddhist perspective and brings martial art scenes in the latter part of the movie. To those who expect a traditional martial art movie, this could be a little bit surprising, but those scenes that take place in narrow and split spaces are exactly what we expect from King Hu. Meanwhile, it is especially interesting to see the beauty of Korea in nature and national heritage as well including Bulguksa Temple, Haeinsa Temple and Jongmyo Shrine. (KIM Se-jin)
