Memories aren’t always what they seem. When Sara flies from Canada to visit Magda, her paternal grandmother in rural Uruguay, the memories seem so far away, even when she’s right in front of them. From the train tracks from her childhood to the one-street village and the old classmate, they all seem so distant. Winner of Toronto IFF’s Best Canadian Debut Feature, Katherine Jerkovic, takes her time with the choked-up conversations, the patient lazy time of the film, lets each character settle into a comfortable groove.
