The number of nomads breeding horses is decreasing in inner Mongolia bordering Russia. Shukhert is a traditional Mongolian wrestler and horse tamer, adhering to the nomadic traditions. One day, horse-thieves steal his breeding horse, and Shukhert tracks them across the vast Taiga. The soundtrack of western movies and the fluid style of cinematography immerses the audience as if watching a film, not a documentary. The documentary shows scenery with horses and deer running around in nature and displays various traditional cultures from Lamaism to shamanism in inner Mongolia. It also shows an aspect of modernization in Mongolian society from the view of cultural anthropology. It stands out for the director¡¯s passionate observation of Mongolians¡¯ lives over a decade. This documentary won the Grand Prize at the International Film and Adventure Book Festival at La Rochelle. (Jinna LEE)
