Ji-eun is taking classes to become an audio describer, but is not really interested in what she is learning. Her side work as a webtoon artist has also hit a wall. She is asked to work on an audio description project, and meets Hye-jin, who is visually impaired but much more skillful in audio description… Ji-eun’s world and the world of audio description is expressed as a frame narrative, and Hye-jin’s audio description brings them perfectly together. The backdrop of the wideopen field of reeds in Ulju Ganwoljae brings to screen the feelings of plaintive longings. When it turns from black and white to color, it becomes an effective introduction for Ji-eun. By using the interesting field of audio describer as its material, the film impresses on the audience that there is a world we can feel through closed eyes and open ears. (Jinna LEE)
