Jacques TATI
Filmmaker Jacques Tati¡¯s recurring character and onscreen persona, ¡®Mr. Hulot¡¯, was born through this film. The filmmaker who also starred as Mr. Hulot seems like a gentleman in his fedora, pipe and suit, but his tall height and stooped posture, as well as the outcomes of his unpredictable behavior earn him the reputation of ¡®troublemaker¡¯. People flock to the French countryside when the holiday season comes - there ¡®Mr. Hulot¡¯ also pops up as a holidaymaker, transforming the holiday site into a stage of slapstick comedy. The tennis match or firework scenes in the film have no lines and are not overdone yet stand as some of the most memorable scenes in Tati¡¯s world of comedy. (YOO Sun-hee)
