KIM Minchul
Oh Young-, a mountaineer and anthropologist, suffered from the loss of one of his group members, Seong-ho, during the ascent of Mount Everest. The following year, Young- visits the village Wallung in Nepal for research and mixes with the peaceful people there. However, he keeps being reminded of Seong-ho¡¯s last climb and feels sharp pain. Following this Young- wanders through a surreal cave with a torch, then moves forward to a bright light in the distance. In fact, the danger of death and alpine climbing are inseparably linked. This experimental documentary is directed from Oh¡¯s own perspective based on Monsoon by Lim -, and the film portrays, through a dreamlike atmosphere, the process that a person who witnessed a death goes through to accept it and move on.
