On June 2017, painter Jesus Mari Lazkano set out on a journey with the New York’s Arctic Circle Foundation to the Svalbard Archipelago in Norway. His firsthand experience of the vast and overwhelming Arctic landscapes is expressed in a painting. The inquisitive drive when faced with the extreme inspires new images in him, and his painting of the Arctic becomes an indication of the map of the soul, reborn into a landscape that endlessly stimulates the realm of imagination.
