El Capitan in Yosemite stands close to 1km tall in vertical elevation. Alex Honnold enjoys extreme climbing and wanted to climb the El Capitan free solo. To climb this route, where one mistake leads to death, he mastered many movements and gave his all to train mentally and to visualize the climbing route. Finally, on June 3 2017, he summited the El Capitan in 3 hours and 56 minutes. After beginning the climb with the same movements he had practiced over and over, he knew that it would be a successful climb at 600ft, and continued to enjoy the world of free solo, without ropes, partners or equipment. The documentary received the 91st Academy Award for feature documentary. (Christine PAE)
