Tomasz Mackiewicz was a promising Polish alpinist. His attempt to climb the winter Nanga Parbat (8,126m) from 2015 finally came to fruition during his 3rd round in January 2018 when he succeed in reaching the summit with French alpinist Elisabeth Revol. This marked the first ever winter Himalayan Alpine style ascent. Unfortunately, they were stranded during descent, and while Revol was rescued, Mackiewicz never made it out and remained at the 7,400 point for eternity. (LEE Young-jun)
