A self-made film documenting the Himalayan K2 ascent by world-renowned alpinist Kurt Diemberger presents overwhelming scenery of caravans of local porters passing through the Balttoro Glacier and surrounding mountain peaks. In 1986, the 54-year old Kurt and 48-year old female British alpinist Julie Tullis set out on a non-oxygen ascent up K2. Due to the late ascent, they were forced to bivouac, later descending to C4. Tullis died in her sleep, possibly from high altitude cerebral edema. Diemberger turned this experience into a book and film which gained public attention. Korean members of the expedition can be seen in the film. (SHIN Young-chul)
