Welcome to the 11th Ulsan Ulju Mountain Film Festival(UMFF)!
These days, we live in an age where we can see and hear everything in the world through smartphones, yet there is a genuine emotion that a small screen cannot capture—one that can only be gained by physically experiencing and facing.
The Ulsan Ulju Mountain Film Festival, Korea’s only international mountain film festival, begins its eleventh journey to offer that very ‘genuine experience.’ Through this festival unfolding against the backdrop of the Yeongnam Alps, we have witnessed sights of humanity transcending its limits and Ulju communicating with the world. This year again, under the slogan ‘Come Up Higher, Cinemountine’, we present 114 films from 35 countries around the world.
Ten sections are prepared, including ‘Guest Country: Julian Alps - SLOVENIA’, and through our guest country Slovenia, we introduce the mountain culture of the Julian Alps, where nature and humanity live together. We have also arranged talks and cultural exchange events to create moments of communication with mountain cultures from around the world.
In particular, this year, for the convenience of our visitors, all screening venues and programs have been consolidated around the Yeongnam Alps Welcome Center, and special spaces unique to Ulju have been prepared, including the Chabak Cinema and Tent Cinema, where you can enjoy the stars in the night sky.
We hope you take a moment to step away from the stifling routine of daily life, and in the heart of lush nature, fully experience the ease and emotion that mountains and films offer, creating memories you will never forget for a lifetime.

Having passed the meaningful milestone of its 10th anniversary last year, the festival now embarks on a new challenge as it prepares for the coming decade. Over the years, the Ulsan Ulju Mountain Film Festival has grown into Korea’s leading international mountain film festival, introducing films that capture mountains, nature, and human life.
Building on this foundation, as one of Ulsan’s foremost cultural and artistic assets, UMFF aims to become a ‘global hub for mountain culture’, while also evolving into a next-generation cultural platform that maximizes the ‘experiential value’ of offline encounters, grounded in the unique geographical asset of the Yeongnam Alps.
The keyword for this year’s festival is ‘challenge.’ We hope to share the value and meaning found in the process, rather than the destination itself. The countless choices and challenges faced by the characters in the films will lead us to reflect on our own lives and offer the courage to move forward on new paths.
Even in a rapidly changing era, the experience of communing with nature and sharing the emotion of film together in the same space remains a precious value that connects people to one another.
Based on this belief, this year’s festival has unified its venues around the Yeongnam Alps Welcome Center, preparing a festival where film, exhibitions, performances, and experiential programs come together. We have further enriched programs that families can enjoy together and prepared a variety of programs to meet new audiences.
