La Quebrada Cliff Divers in Acapulco, Guerrero, are a diverse group(including boys, girls, youths, elders, Afro-Mexicans, and natives) who earn their living by diving 100 feet into the sea from a dangerous cliff as part of a thrilling show at La Quebrada. In Voices from the Abyss, we explore the nature of their dives through slow-motion footage, personal testimonies, and an original poem recited by the divers themselves.
We explore cliff diving from an intimate psychological and physical perspective. Their dives last only three seconds, and this film takes the audience through their inner journey using slow motion, testimonies, and observation of their bodies.
