Battling deep depression, Jae-youn returns to her roots on the island of Marado, South Korea, to visit her family of female free divers known as haenyeo. To her surprise, she finds a connection to nature and her ancestors that literally saves her life.

The Culture of Jeju Haenyeo, a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage is already recognized for its preservation value. It is a valuable connection to continue our traditional way of life that Jae-youn became a Haenyeo for generations, regardless of the situation and reason.
Nicole is a documentary filmmaker, photographer, and underwater shooter, who inspires people to rethink our relationship to nature. Nancy was born in South Korea and moved to USA when she was 10. Her projects encompass television, films and Emmy-nominated documentaries.
