A film by the renowned mountain climber Reinhold Messner. Dive into 150 years of climbing history, beginning with the first ascent of the 3,000m peak of Cima Grande in the Italian Dolomite in 1869 by Austrian Paul Grohmann, Peter Salcher, and Franz Innerkofler. The film continues with the first ascent of the western face by Hans Dulfer’s team in 1913, the north face route by Emilio Comici in 1933, the Diretticima route of 1958, and Alex Huber’s free solo in 2002. Adding to the film’s merit is watching the change in equipment and climbing methods through the ages. (Christine PAE)
