Focus - Korean Wave
Korean Wave is a special section launched this year. Each year, at least one film usually attracts over 10 million viewers in this film-loving nation of Korea. Still, the number of Korean films screened in theaters is quite limited. 'Small' films with a relatively low budget are especially hard to see in some regions. Also called diversity films or independent films, these films are more independent from investment budget, and can thus reveal important truths that big films cannot. As such, these films are the most relevant, revealing the issues that affect our society.
Those issues as of today, 2019-2020, are women and family. They were under the radar until now, hidden below the shadow of pure growth, but presently, they are the most controversial changes of the time. Now, we introduce 6 features and 2 short films reflecting our present state.
