This year’s Ulju Mountain Film Festival(UMFF)’s number of submissions increased from last year’s 434 films from 71 countries to 526 films from 76 countries in 2020. UMFF is certainly garnering support from countries worldwide. Of these entries, 26 films from 18 countries were selected for the international competition section, which is divided into 3 topics: Alpinism & Climbing, Adventure & Exploration, and Nature & People.
Some notable films to be screened this year include Full Moon, Riafn, which feature human psychology and lyricism. There are also the stories of people overcoming hardships The Last Mountain, Home, The Steep Way Up, and Climbing Blind and ethnographic perspectives of people living in nature Murghab, Terra, and Mothers of the Land. Other films to bring the marvel of adventure to the audience include a biographical film about the legendary climber and author of the International Mountain Rescue Handbook, Hamish MacInnes, the adventures of an extreme kayaker Apurimac, The River's Call, and the tale of the 4 climbers attempting the Pakistan Kunduz Mountains, The Pathan Project.
