Ulju Mountain Film Festival has had its eyes on Nepal ever since its Pre-Festival in 2015. We have not only introduced Nepalese films every year, but also supported productions in an effort to let the voice of Nepal be heard. Facing the south slope of the Himalayas, this country boasts a concentration of the most precipitous peaks. To mountaineers, it is akin to holy ground. This year, we will burrow deeper into Nepal, a Himalayan nation, to take a close look into their history and life. Featured will be films composed of stories and voices of the Nepalese themselves, including a program that gives us the perspective of innocent children living in the nature of Nepal, a film about people overcoming the severe earthquake of April 25, 2015, and films about the conflict between the government and rebel armies in a republic nation, a sore point in modern Nepalese history. We thank the Kathmandu International Mountain Film Festival and the Embassy of Nepal Seoul, Korea for their support in this program.
